As a parent it is your responsibility to ensure that your child receives the sacraments. A person in this Catholic Parish receives the Sacraments only after adequate preparation. It is never too early to begin that preparation so that when the time is ready they can receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
All three Church Communities have religious education programmes and classes. Most classes take place during the weekend or after Mass on Sunday. If you are unsure or if you have any questions you should talk to one of the many religious education teachers or our Parish Catechical Coordinator, Lis Harley.
Regular attendance will ensure that your child will receive the preparation to make the celebration of the Sacraments meaningful. Your example and involvement in the Faith journey of your child will provide you with opportunities to evolve into a family unit with strong religious, ethical and moral foundations.
Make sure your child is enrolled in the appropriate class and attends the classes so they don’t miss out on participating fully in the life of the Church Community.
If you are not regular in the practice of your faith you need first of all to get your own faith life in order. You should be a registered member of the Parish.
As parents you are the first teachers of your children and the priorities that you set now will have a profound impact on the direction your child’s life takes. Your Catholic Parish also takes seriously your responsibility of handing on the faith to your children.
For this reason we provide an extensive religious education programme, youth groups and faith and character education opportunities.
